The Qur'an ("The Reading") is the central holy text of Islam. Muslims (followers of Islam) believe it contains the actual words of God.
The Sunnah (examples of the words and deeds of the Prophet Muhammad) appears in a collection of books called Hadith ("Discussion").
The pillars consist of five ritual duties: 1) the profession of faith (shahadah), 2) prayer (salat), 3) almsgiving (zakat), 4) fasting (sawm), and 5) pilgrimage to Mecca (hajj).
Both the Nihongi and the Kojiki contain Shinto myths that describe how the kami created the world and provided laws and practices.
